This is a urine test that screens for imbalances in the neurotransmitter hormones like serotonin (the happiness hormone), GABA (the anti-anxiety hormone), dopamine, glutamate, epinephrine, and many more. When altered, they can contribute to anxiety, depression, and mood changes. Having a thyroid condition increases your chances of also having an imbalance in your neurotransmitter hormones (all hormones affect all other hormones). By measuring which neurotransmitters are out of balance, we can determine what lifestyle interventions and supplements/medications could help correct the imbalance in these hormones and help resolve symptoms.
