Specialty Testing

We oftentimes use specialty tests to help find the root cause of your thyroid problems and/or help reduce antibodies and improve your thyroid health.  All of these tests are out-of-network and are therefore considered self-pay.  You are free to contact your insurance company or the specialty labs themselves to seek reimbursement, however MyThyroidDoctor can not assist with this.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have not established a doctor-patient relationship we us and/or are not located in a state where we are not licensed, we cannot write prescriptions, send referrals, or give medical advice.  You must be a current patient or have a scheduled upcoming appointment to order any labs or specialty tests.

Neurotransmitter Test

ZRT Lab
$ 395
  •

This is a urine test that screens for imbalances in neurotransmitter hormones like serotonin (the happiness hormone), GABA (the anti-anxiety hormone), dopamine, glutamate, epinephrine, and many more.  When these hormones are altered they can contribute to anxiety, depression, and mood changes.  Having a thyroid condition increases your chances of also having an imbalance in your neurotransmitters.  By measuring which neurotransmitters are out of balance, we can determine what lifestyle interventions and supplements/medications could help correct the imbalance and hopefully resolve symptoms.
