How to Share Your Thyroid Ultrasound Images

Medical companies usually use “DICOM” files to save and share images (CT, MRI, ultrasound, etc).  If you need to share your ultrasound images with your Provider, follow the instructions below.  We do not accept CD’s or any records by mail.

If you have images on your computer or phone (.jpg, .png, .gif):
  1. Email the images directly to images@mythyroiddoctor.com with your name, date of birth, and date of the study.  If you have multiple ultrasound studies, email each study separately.
  2. If the files are too large, you may need to put them into a folder and compress it to a .zip file.
If you have a CD or USB that contain the images:
  1. Load your CD or USB into your computer.
  2. If your computer tries to auto-run the CD, exit out of it.
  3. Double-click on the CD icon and find the folder called “DICOM”.   If you don’t see it, it may be a numbered folder with multiple numbered folders inside
  4. Right click on that DICOM folder and compress to a .zip file on your desktop.
  5. Go to dicomlibrary.com which is a radiology sharing website.
  6. Click the button that says “Select DICOM file or zip”.
  7. In the pop-up box, find your compressed file and open.
  8. Now wait…. it could take a few seconds or up to an hour depending on how many images you have and your internet speed.
  9. When it’s done, a new page will open.  Right below “View DICOM Study”, there is a link.  Copy that link and email it to images@mythyroiddoctor.com.
  10. You may also take this link, put it in a word document and upload it to your Patient Portal.
Other:
  1. If you prefer to use file sharing sites such as Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox, that’s fine.  Just email the link to images@mythyroiddoctor.com.
  2. If you’re still having difficulty following these instructions or if it’s not working properly, use your phone to take a photo of each ultrasound image, and then email those photos to us.
